BIG PICTURE PLANNING

Day 1 is all about the big picture.

What do you really want in life? Are you living the life of your dreams? Are you balancing your life with adventures and work/life obligations?

What do you want to accomplish in 12 months, 3-5 years, 10 years+? Do you have a road map on how to get there?

Our Big Picture Planning section includes these layouts - My Ideal Life, Big Bucket List of Ideas, 1 Year Goals, and Vision Board.

Fill out these pages to help you discover what your ideal life looks like. Not only will you clarify your vision, you’ll also generate a road map for your success.

While there’s a tendency to do this kind of big picture planning at the beginning of the year, there’s no reason you have to wait until December / January to start. The beauty of the undated planner is that you can start anew anytime.

We recommend setting aside a chunk of time to complete this section. Choose someplace cozy where you’ll be uninterrupted. For the vision board, you’ll probably want to have some color pencils / pens, pictures / images, stickers to help bring your vision to life.

And before you start, get yourself a cup of something yummy to sip on as we plan along. ☕🍵🧉

Ready to get started? OK, let’s go!

MY IDEAL LIFE

One of the most effective methods of figuring out what you really want in life is to work backwards. Start by imagining that you’re already living your best life, and then work to identify the components that make up your best life. With this exercise, you will identify what’s currently missing in your life right now and what areas you need to focus on in order to reach your ideal life. Complete these pages with as much detail as you can.

BIG BUCKET LIST OF IDEAS

You’ve probably written down a few bucket lists in some form or another in the past. It may be a fun exercise to review them and see how many you’ve checked off. If there are any items that you still want to accomplish, add them to the Big Bucket List of Ideas.

You can also start from scratch and brainstorm your personal bucket list from a blank state. Think of what you’d like to accomplish in different areas of your life. We suggest areas such as healthy & fitness, career & finance, relationships, personal development, fun & hobbies, and family & community, but you don’t have to limit to these categories.

ONE YEAR GOALS

Now, the next step is to pick the most relevant items from your bucket list and translate them into concrete, measurable goals for the next 12 months. Be realistic (but also optimistic) about what you can accomplish in one year and pick only the most important goals that you’re willing to commit your attention, focus and time on.

Be sure to use the SMART goal setting method and write down Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely goals.

We’ve included 3 goals for 6 life areas in these planner pages, but don’t feel obligated to fill out all the goals. Remember to only include the most important goals that you’re willing to commit your attention, focus and time on.

VISION BOARD

It's now time to translate your one year goals from words into a visual representation. Gather your photos, magazine cutouts, coloring pens and stickers and have fun with it!
